WELCOME TO BURFOOT HOUSE
The Burfoot House is a transitional home and comprehensive program designed for homeless single women to achieve self-sufficiency. The program provides an intermediate step between emergency shelter and supportive housing, with limits on the length of stay. The program is designed to offer a safe, supportive environment to overcome trauma, address issues that led to homelessness, and rebuild a support network. The program focuses on employment, savings, and permanent housing.
ABBA List Board of Directors is announcing a change in operation of Burfoot House effective January 1, 2024. With the blessing of Centerville Baptist Church and the ABBA List Board of Directors, Lisa Dixon, current director is in the process of securing a 501(c)3 and will take over the operation of Burfoot House. The mission of Burfoot House will not change and all involved anticipate a smooth transition.
ABBA List will continue to operate CAST (Chesapeake Area Shelter Team) and maintain the Resource Website. Burfoot House will no longer operate under the ABBA List 501(c)3.
"...For I know the plans I have for you, "declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart..." (Jeremiah 29:11-3, NIV) |
